After several of my guildmates had their accounts hijacked within a single week, I decided to lay down some cash for this lil piece of plastic. I honestly don’t know how much more secure it makes the account, but it does add to my peace of mind.

The only thing I would like to see blizzard add to this doodad is an led back-light that makes the numbers visible in the dark. That, and add maybe two more seconds to the display time that your code number is visible.

My guild now mandates that all officers have these–being as our vault was cleaned out and our guild was deleted. While blizz gave us back our items, we had to start a whole new guild charter, which caused us to lose a lot of members due to the long wait it took Blizz to inform us as to whether the guild would be reestablished or not.

Better to be safe than sorry, definitely get one of these.

Ironically, the item is made in China. (Probably by the same people that hacked our account to gold farm. Well, maybe not, but I do find it something worth arching a brow at.)

    Happy gaming!! Alliance FTW!

Well sure if you wanna toss out like 15 dollars go ahead and buy this guys, but if you want an authenticator go the blizzard website and buy the limited edition ones they have right now for 6.50$ which gives you an exclusive in game Core Hound pet. I have been using authenticators for a few years now and im glad i have the one account i didnt put one on got hacked and stolen for a week or two but i then recalled it and put an authenticator on it and have yet to have any trouble with it yet. So you cant put a price on the security of your account, but you can save a couple bucks by going to the blizzard site to order one that comes with free S&H

Yes this item is more expensive than on the Blizzard store site BUT the blizzard store does not ship to APO/FPO addresses. Z-Deals had no problem mailing my order to my APO address here in Korea. Thanks Z-Deals for supporting the troops overseas :)

    This is simple…

You push the button on the authenticator and it gives you a 6 digit code and it’s supposed to protect your account – Great!

What I didn’t know is that you have to use this every single time you log in to wow.

When you add this authenticator to your [...]t account it’s good across the board. Any games you have under the account work with this. So if you have multiple wow accounts, you just need one (Assuming they’re under the same [...]account of course).

The authenticator doesn’t have a light, which saves the battery but makes it difficult to read at night. While it’s just a minor inconvenience, it can get somewhat tiresome after you’ve had to do it several hundred times.

So let me walk you through exactly what you do when you get this. When you get your authenticator the first thing you’ll notice is that it’s small. Very small. It’ll have a piece of paper with it that tells you to go to some site which gives you directions on how to use your authenticator. Basically, you go to [...], log in, and click on the “Change Security Options” link and then “Add an authenticator” and just do what it says. You enter the code on the BACK of the authenticator and then that’s it. Now when you start up a game, like wow and you log in you’ll be greeted with a new window. Then you press the 6 digit code and enter that and then log in.

You also have to use the authenticator to access your [...] account, just fyi.

So what’s this mean? You’re going to have to have your authenticator with you wherever you go to log in to wow, [...], etc. Keep that in mind.

You also get the core hound pup, as an in game pet for wow. It’s kinda cute… For a two-headed dog drooling magma.

Anyways, the construction of this thing is good, how long it’ll last… I have no idea. It might last a year, several years. We’ll just have to wait and see, I guess it depends on how much you use it. BUT it’s important to note that there really isn’t a way to change the battery if it dies, unless you wanna pop the thing open. There’s a seam running down the length of the authenticator… Oh and it also does have the little keychain at the end, which can be handy I guess if you travel a lot.

Just putting this out there for you guys, the Authenticator itself is a great item, the problem here is that you can buy them from Blizzard’s online store for $6.50. This seller is making a tremendous profit of of these little gadgets. Do yourself a favor go to Blizzard’s online store and save your self $32.
